Basel-ing Blaine

Harmont & Blaine and Jay C. Lohmann Together for Art Basel Miami 2025

The Art of the Dachshund: Pop Iconography in Recycled Plastic

On the occasion of the upcoming edition of Art Basel Miami, Harmont & Blaine brings back to the city the unmistakable spirit of Blaine, its signature dachshund. The new collaboration with visionary talent Jay C. Lohmann, titled “Basel-ing Blaine”, is a tribute to the brand’s iconic mascot and its deep connection with contemporary art.

In his studio of wonders and creative experimentation, the American artist transforms recycled plastic into unique works through the use of alveolar panels, a resistant and structurally solid material obtained from regenerated plastic waste. From this innovative composite, a limited series of sculptures of the famous dachshund comes to life: true pop artworks, handcrafted and enriched with patchworks of Harmont & Blaine’s distinctive elements.

The dachshunds express the most joyful and playful side of the brand, reinterpreted through Lohmann’s signature mixed-technique collage and painting. The 12 Blaine sculptures will be featured in site-specific installations inside the new flagship store at Brickell City Centre, a key milestone in the brand’s expansion in the U.S. market. In line with the path initiated with the opening of the first pop-up store at Aventura Mall, a selection of the artworks will also be exhibited there, further extending the project’s presence across the area.

To mark the occasion, the artist will be present at the Miami store on November 29 for a special event open to customers, press, and the local creative community.
